Teen Mazda Challenge

Created to allow young Race Car Drivers of between the ages of 13 and 19 to compete in a nationally sanctioned road race events. The concept as envisioned by Ron Cortez is to add a step in the ladder system by which a young woman or man can advance from Go Karts and/or Motocross into a nationally sanctioned and highly competitive "spec" series. That of the renown Mazda Spec Miata series. "Having been in on the ground floor of the Mazda Spec Miata series I can attest to the quality of program in developing driving talent. I cannot thank Mazda, NASA and TOYO Tires enough for their enthusiastic support of the Teen Mazda Challenge series.

- Teenage candidates should have previous experience in organized competition venues such as: Sanctioned Go Kart races, sanctioned auto races and/or sanctioned Motocross races.

- Or first time drivers must participate in the N.A.S.A competition licensing program prior to joining the TEEN MAZDA CHALLENGE race series.

The series will utilize the economical, race proven Spec Miatas and the NASA Spec Miata Series as the stage from which young men and women Drivers can advance into the world of Professional Auto Racing!

support provides TEEN drivers an opportunity of a lifetime to move into professional motorsport series.

Drivers compete for the honor of being chosen by Mazda Motorsports to participate in the "Mazda Driver Shoot-Out" at the end of each racing season.

In 2008 two Teen Champions, one from the East Coast and one from the West will be invited to participate in the "Mazda Driver Shoot-Out". The Teen champions will then compete head to head against the very best Mazda Drivers in the country.

The winner of the Mazda Driver Shoot-Out will be awarded a new Mazda Mx5 Series Cup car worth in excess of $60,000.00

TOYO TIRES support provides multiple levels of contigency awards to assist in reducing the cost of racing

Races are sanctioned by the National Auto Sport Association, N.A.S.A
